All vendors at the Sturgis Rally must complete
this temporary State
Sales Tax Application, whether displaying items, taking
donations, holding a raffle, giving items away or selling items or
services. Bond may be required.
Please refer to Vendor
Information when
completing the application. Information includes bond amounts, tax
rates, collection days & record keeping requirements.
Record
keeping and audit information
for sales tax purposes.
If you employ South Dakota citizens in your
temporary rally business, you may need to pay the SD Unemployment

complete the Temporary
Food Service Application
( Fee required). Contact
the SD Department of Health if you have questions, (605) 773-3364. You
will need this license in addition to the state sales
tax license and city or county license.
- ........you perform Tattoos & Body
Piercing anywhere in Meade County, including the City
of Sturgis, contact Sturgis City Hall at (605) 347-4422 for
rules (Fee required)
- ........you perform Tattoo & Body
Piercing anywhere in Pennington County, including
the cities of Rapid City, Box Elder, Keystone and Hill City,
call Pennington County Auditor's office at (605) 394-2153 for more
information. (Fee required.)
- ........you are a manufacturer, dealer or
customizer selling or displaying new or used motorcycles, boats or
trailers - complete the Motor
Vehicle Application ( Fee required)
This license is in addition to the state
sales tax license and city or county license.
- ........you are selling cigarettes or
tobacco products - If you did not purchase
your product from a licensed South Dakota distributor please read this
information.
Selling cigarettes without a South Dakota tax
stamp is illegal!
- ........you are renting rooms in your home
